Acceptable Use Policy
What you can and can't do on UniteHQ. Plain rules to keep coaches, parents, and athletes safe.
About this policy
In short: This policy applies to everyone who uses UniteHQ — coaches, parents, athletes, and visitors. Violations can lead to suspension or permanent removal.
This Acceptable Use Policy (the "Policy") applies to your use of UniteHQ, including everything you upload, send, or post through the Service. It is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service and our Coach Services Agreement.
We don't aim to govern speech — we aim to keep our platform safe, especially for the minor athletes whose parents subscribe on their behalf.
General rules
In short: Don't break the law. Don't harass people. Don't try to harm UniteHQ or its users.
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:
- Use the Service to violate any law or regulation, or to facilitate any illegal activity.
- Harass, threaten, defame, dox, stalk, or otherwise abuse any other user. Zero tolerance for behavior directed at minors.
- Impersonate any person or entity, misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity, or use false credentials.
- Discriminate against, demean, or harm anyone on the basis of any protected characteristic.
- Upload or transmit content that is sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate for an athletic-coaching context. Sexual content involving minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to law enforcement.
- Use the Service to send spam, chain messages, or unsolicited bulk communications.
No medical or therapeutic claims
In short: Coaches must stay in their lane. No diagnosing, treating, or curing physical or mental conditions. No claims of guaranteed outcomes.
UniteHQ supports performance coaching, not medical or mental health practice. Unless you are a licensed professional acting within the scope of your license, you must not:
- Use words like diagnose, treat, cure, therapy, therapeutic, rehabilitation, or names of clinical conditions (e.g. ADHD, depression, PTSD, eating disorders) when describing your services.
- Recommend, prescribe, or comment on medications, supplements, or medical procedures.
- Promise specific physical, mental, academic, recruitment, or scholarship outcomes. "Guaranteed results" language is not allowed.
- Hold yourself out as a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist, dietitian, physical therapist, or physician unless you actually hold that license and are practicing within it.
If a parent or athlete discloses a medical or mental health concern, refer them to a qualified professional and, in the case of a safety crisis, follow the escalation procedure in the Coach Services Agreement.
Minor athlete safety
In short: Parent or guardian must be visible on every coach-to-minor interaction. Coaches who work with minors must follow mandatory reporting and crisis-escalation protocols.
- Coaches must conduct all written interactions with minor athletes through the UniteHQ platform, with the parent or guardian able to view the conversation.
- Coaches must not solicit personal contact details from minor athletes or arrange in-person meetings without the parent's prior written consent.
- Coaches working with minors must comply with all applicable mandatory-reporter laws in their state and report suspected abuse, neglect, or imminent harm to the appropriate authorities.
- Any disclosure of self-harm, suicidal ideation, abuse, or eating disorder by a minor athlete must be flagged immediately to the parent and to UniteHQ via the in-app crisis flag (or by emailing safety@unitehq.com), along with U.S. crisis resources (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, Crisis Text Line "HOME" to 741741).
No off-platform solicitation
In short: Coaches, don't take subscribers off-platform to avoid the platform fee. It harms parents, devalues the platform, and breaks your agreement.
Coaches must not solicit, induce, or encourage UniteHQ subscribers to terminate their UniteHQ subscription in order to continue services through a separate channel that avoids UniteHQ's platform fee, for so long as the subscriber maintains an active relationship with the coach (and for a reasonable tail period after, as defined in the Coach Services Agreement).
This rule protects parents (who lose dispute, refund, and safety protections off platform), coaches who play by the rules, and the platform that makes coaching at scale possible.
Content rules
In short: Only upload content you have the rights to. Get consent before uploading video of other people, especially minors.
- You must own or have the necessary rights and licenses to all content you upload.
- Before uploading any video, photo, or audio depicting another person — especially a minor — you must obtain consent from that person and, if a minor, from their parent or legal guardian.
- Do not upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights. We comply with the DMCA; takedown requests can be sent to dmca@unitehq.com.
- Do not upload personal information about third parties without their consent.
- Do not upload malicious code, viruses, or content designed to harm UniteHQ or its users.
Platform security
In short: Don't try to break, scrape, or overload UniteHQ. Don't probe for vulnerabilities without authorization.
- Do not attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to use.
- Do not probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, except through a security-research disclosure to security@unitehq.com.
- Do not scrape, crawl, or use automated means to extract data from the Service beyond what is permitted by our API terms.
- Do not interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading, flooding, or mailbombing.
- Do not circumvent security or authentication measures.
Reporting and enforcement
In short: If you see something, report it. We can warn, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate this policy.
Report suspected violations to safety@unitehq.com. We review reports promptly and may take any of the following actions, in our reasonable discretion:
- Issue a warning.
- Remove or restrict access to specific content.
- Suspend the account temporarily.
- Terminate the account permanently and refuse re-registration.
- Withhold or claw back payouts where allowed under our Coach Services Agreement.
- Cooperate with law enforcement or other authorities as appropriate.
We will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from enforcement actions taken in good faith under this Policy.
